6th Annual Manitoba Sustainable Protein Research Symposium
Welcome to the 6th Annual Manitoba Sustainable Protein Research Symposium. This year features a dynamic lineup of keynotes, panel discussions, and trainee presentations. We are also introducing a new Trainee Industry Pitch Competition, where students will pitch innovative technical solutions for the valorization and re-utilization of by-products associated with protein production, supporting a more sustainable and circular economy.
We will explore Resilient Protein Systems, examining global and regional protein system challenges and discussing Manitoba’s resilience across climate, policy, and agricultural production.
Our Protein Innovation in Practice discussions will focus on regulatory readiness, commercial pathways, and market access, highlighting how Canada’s protein sector can successfully move innovation from lab to market.
Student researchers will present cutting-edge work through brief talks and posters, covering plant and animal protein processing using techniques such as fermentation, extrusion, fractionation, and other environmentally friendly technologies.
This year we are also collaborating with the 4th International Trainee Symposium in Agri-food, Nutrition and Health, creating a platform for trainees to showcase research at the intersection of agri-food systems, nutrition, biotechnology, and human health.
Sincerely,
MSPRS Organizing Committee
